Is it right for me?

You must first be suitable for the underlying procedure. The product’s suitability for recently treated skin requires a separate explanation.

An experimental or emerging treatment requires an explicit discussion of uncertainty and better-established alternatives. Evidence for one source or route cannot establish the safety of another. Local product suitability must be confirmed before use.

Evidence and realistic expectations.

A 25-person split-face trial found a benefit from one topical exosome gel after fractional CO2 laser. It was small and short; it does not validate injections, secretomes in general or other products after other procedures.

Reliable skin regeneration, hair regrowth or faster healing has not been established across these products. The FDA reports no approved exosome products in the US; that does not determine Lebanese law or local approval.

Risks to understand.

These are emerging uses with limited long-term safety data. Reactions, infection and persistent inflammation may occur; injections and use through a disrupted skin barrier have different risks from application to intact skin. Product quality, sterility and contamination are particularly important. Serious adverse events have been reported with unapproved exosome products.

Treatment

The main procedure and standard aftercare are planned first. Any added preparation needs separate assessment for the route and recently treated skin. Evidence for topical use after laser is not evidence that injection after laser is safe or useful.

Recovery

Recovery includes that of any microneedling, injection or resurfacing procedure. An added product does not remove the need for aftercare or guarantee fewer days of redness and swelling.

Results and review

Allow the recovery required by the underlying procedure. There is no reliable universal estimate of how much an exosome or secretome product will change healing or the final result.

Number of visits

There is no established universal course for exosome or secretome products. A proposed schedule must be justified for the actual preparation and route; neither a fixed number of sessions nor a predictable duration of benefit can be promised.
