Under-eye fillers
Under-eye shadows can come from hollowing, pigmentation, skin quality or eye bags. Tear-trough filler is offered selectively when a volume deficit and suitable anatomy are identified.
Is it right for me?
It may suit selected hollowing. Significant bags, swelling or pigmentation can make filler inappropriate and may warrant other care or referral.
Discuss allergies, previous injectables, active infection, medicines and any healing problems. Tell the clinician if you are pregnant or breastfeeding; elective treatment may need to be deferred because safety information is limited. Do not stop prescribed medicines without advice from the prescriber.
Evidence and realistic expectations.
Certain fillers have evidence for selected under-eye hollows, but this sensitive area needs careful assessment. Evidence and permitted uses are product-specific; pigment, bags and puffiness are different problems.
Under-eye filler may worsen existing puffiness and can cause persistent swelling, visible unevenness or a blue-grey tint. Blood-vessel blockage, including vision loss, remains a rare serious risk. It is not a general treatment for dark circles.
Risks to understand.
Swelling, bruising, lumps, infection and delayed inflammation can occur. Rare injection into a blood vessel can damage skin and cause blindness or stroke. Unusual severe pain or pale, grey or blue skin needs immediate medical assessment; sudden vision changes or stroke symptoms need emergency care without waiting for a routine clinic reply.
