Under-chin fat reduction
A double chin can reflect fat, skin, muscle or limited chin projection. Injectable fat reduction is considered only when an examination confirms that a suitable fat pocket is the main concern.

Is it right for me?
Selected adults with localized under-chin fat may be assessed. It is not a treatment for general weight loss, a receding chin or predominantly loose skin.
Previous neck surgery, swallowing problems, infection and a new or changing neck lump need review before a cosmetic treatment is considered.
Evidence and realistic expectations.
Deoxycholic acid has evidence for selected under-chin fat in adults. This does not validate other “fat-dissolving” mixtures or injections elsewhere on the body. Approval and suitability depend on the specific product and local requirements.
Reducing fat can leave loose skin more noticeable. Treatment does not correct every double chin, remove a neck lump of another cause or provide weight loss.
Risks to understand.
Swelling, pain, bruising and numbness are possible. Nerve injury, an uneven smile, swallowing difficulty and skin injury require discussion and medical attention when suspected.
What to expect.
Consultation
Discuss your concern, medical history, previous treatments and what you would like to preserve. Dr. Roy will explain suitable options, alternatives, risks and fees before you decide.
Treatment
Dr. Roy assesses the cause of fullness and explains the proposed deoxycholic acid treatment, alternatives and recovery before any injections.
Recovery
Noticeable swelling can last several days or longer. Bruising, tenderness, firmness or numbness may persist; plan around recovery rather than assuming a quick return to social events.
Results and review
The contour is assessed after swelling resolves, over subsequent weeks. Weight change and skin laxity can affect the longer-term appearance.
Number of visits
Several sessions may be considered. The need for another visit should follow reassessment of the remaining fat and skin.
