PRP for the face

Facial PRP uses a preparation from your own blood for selected skin-quality goals. It can be discussed as a standalone step or in a planned resurfacing combination.

Is it right for me?

It may be considered after assessment of the skin and blood-draw suitability. It does not replace structural filler when a true volume change is the goal.

Blood and platelet disorders, anemia, active infection and medicines affecting clotting need assessment. Being prepared from your own blood does not remove contamination or injection risks. Do not stop prescribed medication on the basis of this page.

Evidence and realistic expectations.

In a small randomized facial study, participants reported some improvement, but blinded dermatologists did not find a clear difference from saline. This illustrates the uncertainty around visible facial rejuvenation from PRP alone.

PRP cannot be relied on to lift sagging skin or replace lost facial volume. Photography, lighting and temporary swelling can affect impressions of improvement.

Risks to understand.

Using your own blood does not remove all risk. Blood-draw bruising, injection soreness, infection and reactions to other materials used during the visit are possible.

What to expect.

Consultation

Discuss your concern, medical history, previous treatments and what you would like to preserve. Dr. Roy will explain suitable options, alternatives, risks and fees before you decide.

Treatment

A small blood sample is processed to prepare platelet-rich plasma. Dr. Roy explains the proposed use, application method and aftercare before treatment.

Recovery

The blood draw can bruise, and treated areas may be sore, swollen or marked. When combined with another procedure, recovery also follows that procedure.

Results and review

Any change is assessed over months after swelling resolves. Visible improvement is variable, and an early “glow” does not demonstrate lasting skin change.

Number of visits

A course may be considered with photographs and review points to assess response. Maintenance is discussed only if there is a reason to continue.
