RF microneedling
RF microneedling uses needles to deliver radiofrequency heat within the skin. It may improve selected acne scars, texture or mild laxity, but the added heat also introduces risks beyond ordinary microneedling.
Is it right for me?
An individual assessment is important for every skin tone. Previous energy treatments, implants, pigmentation history and the amount of facial fat should be discussed.
Tell the clinician about cold sores, unusual scarring, pigment changes after injury, current medicines and recent procedures. Active infection or irritated skin may require treatment first.
Evidence and realistic expectations.
Clinical studies report improvement for selected scars and skin concerns, but results depend on the device and how it is used. The FDA’s October 2025 safety communication reports serious complications with certain uses; this is not a blanket ban.
RF adds risks from heat and is not suitable for everyone. Burns, scarring, fat loss, disfigurement and nerve injury have been reported and may need medical or surgical treatment.
